Murray has developed a unique blend of technical and practical skills working for a number of leading New Zealand engineering companies. As Chief Design Engineer and onsite IT Engineer for Millers Mechanical (Meat Plant and Processing Machinery Division), he was promoted to Contracts Manager for the Handling Division, specialising in product improvement and development while establishing efficient installation, commissioning and safety procedures.

Since joining TEG in 2010, Murray has worked full time in the machine safety field. He holds international functional safety certification which requires a university degree or equivalent and 3 to 5 years experience in functional safety (TUV Sud).

Murray is one of the leading machine designers in New Zealand and is an advanced user of Autocad. His speciality is in finding machine safety solutions that can be retrofitted to existing equipment and he has developed the reputation of an exceptional problem solver in this area. Murray is a member of the Fonterra Technical Committee advising the companies’ divisions on machine safety.
